Graphic Novels

The Graphic Novel I took out from Bird Library was titled Uncle $crooge and Donald Duck "Escape from Forbidden Valley". Since I don't remember the last time I read a Graphic Novel, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I automatically thought that graphic novels had to be more comedic in nature and tell less of a story, but I was able to find the opposite today. This graphic novel was clearly a Disney creation as the characters are all licensed by Disney. This emphasized the imagination and technology that had to be used in order to generate this book. Disney has a way of using the technology available to them to create something that is both entertaining and fit for people of all ages. This graphic novel is a form of technology because I believe that the illustrations on each of the pages was created for a purpose and had to have been created on a technological device. These images were not hand drawn, which means that a professional would have had to design these images from a computer software. I believe that this graphic novel employs many different technologies, yet it makes reading more enjoyable for people. This graphic novel speaks of industrial technology when trying to take wood and make it into plywood through a machine. Additionally, the font of the text, as well as the images give entertainment to the story. I believe that graphic novels are a great way for people who are not so interested in reading to find stories that they will relate to and enjoy reading.
